Does Claudia just have a deep-rooted hate for anyone she is jealous of, or rightfully so does she feel enmity for those who flaunt their decadent and easy lifestyle in front of her? And what about the little girl and "Polly?" Perhaps this demonstrates a real love and affection, to soften them. Or is this relationship just another privilege, love from mothers, that white girls have and Pecola or Claudia don't.
